The System
Six stages. Parameterized gates. Structured decisions.
Every venture concept enters a stage-gated process designed to generate structured data at every decision point. Most concepts are killed early and cheaply. The survivors earn increasing resources as evidence accumulates.
Stage 0
Ideation
Structured concept generation across multiple engines: regulatory delta scanning, combinatorial innovation, market gap analysis. Each concept is scored against plausible macro theses and the studio's accumulated institutional knowledge. Hundreds of concepts enter. The cost per concept at this stage is negligible. Most are filtered here, every filtered concept adds to the knowledge base, and the AI machine keeps looking for more.
Stage 1
Screening
Human evaluation against the full indicator set across six dimensions: demand, feasibility, go-to-market, economics, defensibility, and leadership difficulty. Critical uncertainties are identified and the path to resolving them is mapped. The cost of a kill at this stage is modest. This is where our epistemic value framework kicks in to surface information-dense, low-cost opportunities to advance clarity of the concept. Concepts that survive have earned their first allocation of investigative resources.
Stage 2
Validation
Targeted investigation to resolve the uncertainties that matter most. Competitive audits, demand hypothesis testing, regulatory feasibility, landing page experiments. Each investigation is prioritized by its information value relative to its cost. The question is not "what stage is this concept at?" but "where does the next dollar of investigation produce the most clarity?"
Stage 3
Build
The studio's engineering team builds a minimum buyable product and acquires early paying customers. Revenue at this stage is evidence, not success. It resolves specific uncertainties about willingness to pay, acquisition cost, and unit economics that inform the spin-out decision. The venture earns the right to become a company, or it doesn't.
Stage 4
Operator Entry
A working venture with paying customers, validated unit economics, and resolved founding-stage uncertainties is matched with an exceptional operator. The CEO inherits a venture that has already earned the right to be led. Their time and talent are deployed where they create the most value: finding product-market fit and building the organization.
Stage 5
Scale
The venture operates as an independent company with continued studio support. The operator leads. The studio retains equity and provides infrastructure, but creative authority belongs to the CEO. The system captures what it learned from this cycle and moves on to the next.
